The Illini's B...Dee Brown last played in 2006. The Illini's Big Ten record since then is 39-38. Illinois is 1-4 in games decided by 6 points or less this year. The close win over Maryland was the Illini nearly giving away a 12 point lead with 5:35 to go. This team should be better than 14-6. They have more talent than that. UIC beat Illinois on December 18th. The Flames are 0-8 since that win at the United Center. UIC couldn't beat Cleveland St, Wright St, or Youngstown St, but they can beat Illinois. Bruce Weber is the problem. I'll take my chances with whoever comes next. Especially if Ron Guenther doesn't get to hire the next head basketball coach at Illinois.

They better win at Indiana tonight!SelfsPlayersAreGonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18320586285202517708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9157209378341149867.post-80010777107015188102011-01-26T06:43:18.759-08:002011-01-26T06:43:18.759-08:00Jim, you are reading too many Illiniboards. This i...Jim, you are reading too many Illiniboards. This is basically the same team they had last year and they are showing improvement. The Illini are playing with a Senior class that came in with very little hype and nobody in the Junior class. Yes, the recruiting is Weber's fault, however, as you mentioned it appears he has turned that around. That being said, I'm not sure who you want to bench. Up until the OSU game, Richmond was okay, Paul was sketchy and I certainly wouldn't bench Tisdale for Leonard. Bill Cole is shooting 50% from 3 point land in the Big Ten and playing good defense (and I am only a recent believer in Cole). I think he's earned a job. It's not like we are giving up the season and giving the young guys time to mature on the court. I love all the "fire Weber" sentiment. Isn't that IlliniNation's favorite hobby, calling for a coach's job? I'm not sure who some Illinois fans think we are or who we would get as a replacement. We are not Duke, Kansas or Kentucky. For a coach, is Illinois a top 15 job? I'm not sure.JoeSchallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08125606720750613952noreply@blogger.com
